Amazon Web Services, commonly known as AWS, is Amazon’s cloud-computing division. It provides on-demand technology infrastructure and managed services to start-ups, enterprises, public-sector agencies, educational institutions and software developers. Customers can deploy resources when needed, pay according to usage or contracts, and operate applications across a worldwide network of cloud regions and availability zones.

AWS offers computing through services such as Amazon EC2 and Lambda, storage through Amazon S3, and managed databases including Amazon RDS and DynamoDB. Its broader portfolio covers networking, content delivery, cybersecurity, analytics, data integration, containers, developer tools, Internet of Things systems and contact-centre technology. Machine-learning and generative-AI services include Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Bedrock.
